The first of its kind in Canada

Canada | British Columbia | Vancouver

2010 was the 41st year of commercial salmon fishing and the 2nd year of Skipper Otto’s Community Supported Fishery. The first of its kind in Canada, they are proud to provide the freshest and highest quality fisherman-direct salmon available, and a fair price for all.

Memberships help ensure that their family can continue its fishing livelihood for another season in the face of big corporate Seine fishing, fish farms, and rising fuel prices.

Memberships costs $250 for the year. In exchange, customersl receive approximately 35lbs of whole, cleaned, head-on sockeye or the equivalent value in other species of salmon.  Each species and items has a “member price” associated with it. Customers have the option of coming to as many or as few pick-ups as you like. Once they join, they receive regular email updates throughout the season letting them know when and what is available for pick up.

At each pick-up you attend, customers select whatever they’d like to take for their share. The CSF records what customers have taken in their spreadsheet, the dollar value is subtracted from the $250 total
