The Alaska Marine Conservation Council’s project

United States | Alaska | Anchorage

The Alaska Marine Conservation Council (AMCC) features Tanner crab from Kodiak Island as the first product offered through a pilot of their Catch of the Season Community Supported Fishery (CSF).

AMCC has worked for many years with local Kodiak fishermen on protection of Tanner crab habitat around Kodiak Island. This year they realized an important victory in limiting bottom trawling to protect seafloor habitat, the Tanner crab population and the fishermen that depend on them. They are pleased to celebrate this important fishery and amazingly tasty product through Catch of the Season!

Your catch of the season may include halibut from Homer, salmon from Southeast, Bering Sea black cod, or Kodiak crab. Each delivery includes “the story of your catch,” a guide to share with family and friends. It tells the who, what, when, where and how of your catch as well as what AMCC is doing to protect the fishery for generations to come. There’s even a favorite recipe from the fishermen.
