Three hundred Organisations Call on EU Commission to Keep New GMOs Strictly Regulated

Slow Food and many other civil society organisations wrote an open letter to Frans Timmermans, Vice President of the European Commission, urging him to keep new GMOs regulated.

The letter was signed by 300 organisations, and states:

“We conclude that the best way is to maintain the current legal system for all generations of GMOs and keep new GMOs regulated under the existing EU rules including all labelling and traceability requirements. This will minimise potential negative impacts on nature, human and animal health and will uphold the precautionary principle and consumers and farmers’’ right to information as key political and social achievements of the EU.They write that the best way to maintain the current legal system for all generations of GMOs, and keep new GMOs regulated under the existing EU rules including all labelling and traceability requirements.”
