Slow Food Youth Network

Connecting young people around the world with a passion for protecting our food systems.

The SFYN works on a variety of topics, including issues like food waste, climate change, policy and social injustice. The network addresses each issue with concrete ideas to do better for each other and the planet. Whether in an educational setting or at a festival, protest or potluck, SFYN activists find ways to learn from each other and celebrate food that promotes dignified labor and sustainable production and honors its cultural significance. The Slow Food Youth Network aims to engage youth to shape future food leaders and create a food system based on justice and joy

SFYN’s trademark event – the Disco Soup – combines cooking a giant soup from vegetables destined for the dump with music and socializing, and makes a bold statement about food waste. The Food Film Festival Amsterdam, an annual three-day festival looks at food from all angles, presenting documentaries and feature films as well as debates and workshops. Throughout the year, SFYN events are held across the world, from markets and conferences to festivals.
