The Agenzia di Pollenzo: A Dream Comes True

A mere ceremony would fail to do justice to the much anticipated inauguration of the newly restored Agenzia di Pollenzo. So Slow Food has planned10 days of celebration from April 30 to May 5. Hence song, music and entertainment, plus lectures, concerts, debates, theme dinners and tastings.
Celebrity guests will include Umberto Eco, academic and author of In the Name of the Rose, Jack Lang, former French Minister of Culture, Enzo Bianchi, theologist and prior of the Monastery of Bose, Vittorio Sgarbi, art critic and professor, Moni Ovadia, Jewish playwright and actor, singer-songwriterFrancesco Guccini, internationally renowned chefs Paul Bocuse and Gualtiero Marchesi, and winemakers Angelo Gaja and Alexandre de Lur-Saluces. This event—born in the mind and heart of Carlo Petrini, patiently nurtured and developed by the whole Slow Food association, with the help of countless individuals and institutions (above all, the Region of Piedmont and the City of Bra) whose financial support and hard work have made it possible—will truly be a dream come true.
The historical Pollenzo farm complex was once the property of the House of Savoy, being chosen as a center for experimental agriculture in the early 1800s by Carlo Alberto. Recently recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it has now been completely restored to house:
The University of Gastronomic SciencesThe University of Gastronomic Sciences, open to students from all over the world will expand the study of gastronomy to include subjects such as geography, law, economy, marketing, sociology, anthropology, ecology, history, communication and sensory perception. Tasting menus and à la carte dishes featuring the traditional cooking of Piedmont and seafood.
