Then at 5pm (CEST) the “New Geographies and Possible Futures” conference will start. In order to make radical change we often need to analyze things from a new perspective. The science that investigates the reality of our surroundings is geography, and in the opening conference of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2020 we consider new geographies, alternatives to the current model of social and economic development and possible futures. We will be joined by academic experts including:
- Franco Farinelli, former Professor of Geography at the University of Bologna, now teaching at the University of Geneva, UCLA, UC Berkeley and the Sorbonne in Paris.
- Paul Collier, director of the International Growth Centre (IGC), an economic research center based at the London School of Economics, and author of The Future of Capitalism and The Bottom Billion: Why the Poorest Countries are Failing and What Can Be Done About It.
- Virginie Raisson, an international relations analyst specializing in geopolitics, director of the French research center Lépac and author of Atlas of the World’s Futures.
The event will be streamed live on the Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2020 site here and on Slow Food’s official social media channels.
