“Slow Food on Film” on-line
05 Mar 2004 | English
Every two years, since 2002, in the Piedmont town of the same name, the “Corto in Bra” (Short Film in Bra) festival has been celebrating the best in gastronomic short films. In fact, the launch of “Slow Food on Film”, the world’s first showcase of short films featuring food occurred two years ago, as a result of the partnership with Slow Food. Since then, Bra has become a point of reference for lovers of food on film. The 2004 edition of “Slow Food on Film” – from April 21st to 25th – sees the debut of a new section, this also the result of co-operation with the movement of the snail. Open to documentaries with a maximum length of thirty minutes, it is called “Slow Food on Film Doc” and the theme is the memory of food.
Today, both souls of the Bra food-film festival have a specific dedicated showcase on the web, in both Italian and English.
www.slowfoodonfilm.it provides a rich database with the complete details of every film shortlisted for the competition and the bio-filmography of the film-makers that can be consulted through a search based on year, country of origin, title and director. Also featured are the juries, the awards, news and, in a few weeks, the programme and the films in the 2004 edition.
www.slowfoodonfilm.it as a site is an essential point of reference for international lovers of food and the cinema, providing a classification for a film category – that of short films dedicated to food – never explored before now.
