Slow Fish: a good reason to visit Liguria!
15 Jun 2021 | English
This special edition of Slow Fish features both an online and physical program. Through June and until July 4 you can take part in our webinars, talks and conferences online at www.slowfish.it, and visit Liguria to discover its rich food traditions.
As usual, we have a wide range of Taste Workshops where you can meet fishers, producers and experts who’ll help you discover new recipes and ingredients. On June 17, at Beer and smoked fish we’ll have smoked fish made using laurel and rosemary wood, together with bottarga and salted anchovies, accompanied by the beers of the Quality Beer Academy (QBA).
On the same day, you can take a walk along some of the most stunning coastal paths of the Cinque Terre, from the Possaitara valley (Riomaggiore) to Canneto, visiting the Possa farm, a typical expression of heroic viticulture in Liguria.
On June 20 don’t miss the opportunity to discover the area around La Spezia with a slow walk and a lunch based on local products.
Mussels represent one of the flagships of local gastronomy in the area of La Spezia, together with another very interesting product of mussel farming: green oysters, which are being increasingly-appreciated by gastronomes and chefs. Come and taste them on June 26!
In Genoa there are two fantastic exhibitions at Palazzo Ducale being held at the same time as Slow Fish. Italy of Magnum is an intense account of the history, lifestyle and culture of Italy since WWII, told through the eyes of the photographers of Magnum Photos; the Michelangelo – Divine Artist exhibition focuses on Michelangelo’s contact with other exceptional figures, not least Giorgio Vasari, biographer of the artists, who created the myth of Michelangelo as a wondrous and singular creator while the artist was still alive.
The weekend of June 26-27 sees the return of Open Presidia, where Ligurian producers who form part of the flagship Slow Food project will open the doors of their farms and workshops to share their daily lives and work with visitors. Come and listen to their stories, taste their products and learn more about the guardians of biodiversity. Check out the Ponente Ligure Black Bee and taste its wonderful honey, find out more about the unique local Rose Syrup, and meet the Noli Gulf Artisanal Fishers.
We look forward to meeting you in Genoa at the beginning of July! In the meantime, you can find out more at www.slowfish.it
