Salone: facts and figures for the first day

22 Oct 2004 | English

About 20,000 people, 40% of whom from abroad, attended the Salone del Gusto on the opening day (22/10). Though these figures speak for themselves, in no way are they comparable, statistically, with those of previous editions.

The fact is that this year’s innovative new side-event ‘Terra Madre, world meeting of food communities’, has had a tremendous impact in the Italian and international media and attracted visitors in their thousands.

Other reasons for the boom in attendance figures may be attributed to the incresase in foreign exhibitors present at the Salone.

The number of foreign journalists at the Salone has also risen and now accounts for 30% of the total.
