Representative of the International Slow Food Youth Network, Joris Lohman, in Johannesburg to talk about Slow Food in South Africa, on July 5th, 2013

Joris Lohman, representative of the International Slow Food Youth Network in the Slow Food Executive Committee, chairman of the Youth Food Movement in the Netherlands, and co-founder of the annual Food Film Festival Amsterdam, will participate at the discussion event “Slow Food South Africa: good and fair food for everyone”. On this occasion, he will introduce the activities of the Slow Food Youth Network and also outline how Slow Food could help improve the food system in South Africa. Organized by the Dutch Embassy and the Johannesburg Culinary & Pastry School of Johannesburg, the event will be held on July 5th (Maboneng Precinct, Arts on Main, 262 Fox Street, JHB), starting with a welcoming event at 12:00 am, followed up by Joris Lohman’s presentation at 12:30 pm.
Niek Schelling, Agricultural Counselor for South Africa, Mozambique and Angola, will introduce the main focus of the event, namely “Is Slow Food sustainable and affordable for producers and consumers”, which will be followed by a Question-and-Answer session with a panel, moderated by Joris Lohman.
Joris Lohman’s participation on Friday in Johannesburg is the last stage of his South Africa trip, during which he promoted a change in the food and agriculture system, changing towards a more sustainable agriculture according to the Slow Food philosophy.
