PERU IS TO PRESENT ANDEAN PRODUCTS IN “TERRA MADRE SALONE DEL GUSTO”

- Small Peruvian producers will exhibit and will offer on sale a variety of products thanks to the program “Al Turista, Lo Nuestro” created by MINCETUR.
- Products to be presented are canned organic trout, Quinoa and Amaranth flake, stevia, olive oil and dried fruits among others.
- Press Open Day will be held at the Peruvian stand on September Friday the 23rd, various products will be offered for tasting, with Pachamanca specialist, Frank Petter Malaga Del Aguila.
Turin, September 2016.- Four major Peruvian producers belonging to the regions of Arequipa, Cusco and Puno, will participate for the first time in the international event “Salone del Gusto Terra Madre”, to be held from 22nd to 26th of September.
Their participation on the show, organized by Slow Food, is thanks to the program “Al Turista, Lo Nuestro”, from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru (MINCETUR). Attendance will be greeted with a sample of the different products like preserved trout, quinoa flakes and amaranth, stevia, olive oil, dehydrated fruits, among others.
“Al Turista, Lo Nuestro” was launched in 2012, and it promotes, in major touristic destinations, sustainable services and regional products. With this aim, the program has involved companies, associations of food producers, artisan associations, hotels and service providers that have made sustainability one of its fundamental principles, working with producers selected from the program.
Currently, the program is being developed in the regions of Arequipa, Ica, Cusco and Puno. Since early 2016 there have been also included the territories of La Libertad, Lambayeque, Piura and Tumbes. By the end of the year there will be eight areas covered by the project. Since its inception, MINCETUR has achieved producers to reach sales of more than 1.3 million of euro, with an annual growth of 100%.
Attending and representing MINCETUR there will be Commercial Counselor Amora Carbajal Schumacher (Commercial Office of Peru in Milan) and Natalia Acosta Rivera, belonging to the Directorate General of Tourism Strategy and Coordinator of the “Al Tourist, Lo Nuestro” initiative.
Peruvian producers participating in Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2016 are:
- ARAPA SAN PEDRO Y SAN PABLO S.A.C. (canned Trout)
Since 1996 it operates in the community of Iscayapi, 4 km. away from Arapa district, province of Azángaro (Puno).
This company promotes local development, encouraging the welfare of the population and the job creation on the shore of Lake Arapa where trout farming is one of the main economic sustain. The standard of Infrastructure, machinery and workers guarantee a high quality of the final product. The company has HACCP certification and authorization to export to EU and FDA certification for export to the US, granted by BIOLATINA.
Its representative is Reyna Callata Chaco.
- PRODUCTOS NATURALES MUNAY S.R.L (brown rice, dried fruit, crackers, quinoa pancake, amaranth flake, Andean muesli)
Family business of Cusco, it’s dedicated to the production, distribution and processing of organic and whole products that are distinguished by their origin and high quality.
Its representative is Jorge Castro Martin Cereceda.
- CORPORACIÓN BIO PERU S.A.C. (Stevia)
Founded in 2009, BIO PERU is a member of the Regional Consortium of Producers of Stevia and Aromatic Plants of Cusco, composed by 167 farmers. Its aim is to commercialize stevia and herbal teas such as chamomile, muña, green tea, lemon verbena and sage, which are previously sweetened with stevia powder, with no need for sugar or other sweeteners. The company has 5.5 hectares of farmland and a small processing plant.

- OLIVA GARDEN PERU (olive oil)
Located in the Acari Valley in the province of Caravelí (Arequipa), Oliva Garden Peru is a member of Bella Union – Acari (ABLE). This company produces organic olive oil and its derivatives.
Its representative is the producer Julia Yolanda Pacheco Mancini.
