We Feed the Planet Japan 2017 is taking place from November 3 to 5 in Kobe, Japan. The event has been organized by Slow Food Japan and the Slow Food Youth Network in collaboration with the City of Kobe as part of the Gastropolis Kobe 2020 project.
We Feed the Planet Japan 2017 will gather 50 young Asian delegates from 14 countries: Japan, South Korea, China, Mongolia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, Cambodia, Thailand, India, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Delegates will represent the new generation of specialists in food (producers, chefs, researchers and activists) and consumers interested in food from all over Asia who will engage in workshops and panel discussions. During the three-day program, they will draw on their cumulative expertise in order to reflect on the future of food in 2020.
The first day will be an event open to the public, with 1,000 visitors expected, with various panel discussions inviting key players in food, hands-on workshops and food and drink. The second and third days will be an intensive camp for the 50 delegates with group discussions and workshops in Aina Satoyama Park, where delegates will not only be able to discuss but also cook, eat and sleep.

The Slow Food Youth Network is constituted by producers, researchers, students and other people under 30 who are interested in food and enthusiastically united by the Slow Food philosophy: to defend food which is good, clean and fair, as well as to achieve a sustainable environment for the production of food. Since its establishment in Europe in 2004, it has expanded to over 40 countries. In 2016, the network expanded to Kobe, Kyoto and Okinawa. This will be the second We Feed The Planet conference after the world’s first was held in Milan, Italy in 2015.
