The meeting on Friday September 15, at 2.30 pm, will be moderated by Piero Sardo, the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity president, and will be opened by the president of Slow Food, Carlo Petrini.
During the meeting we’ll be assessing the current situation: At what stage of the battle are we? What criticism and discrimination is raw milk still subject to? Will natural cheeses and animal welfare be the great challenges of the future? How can we relaunch the movement for raw-milk cheeses?
The goal will be to launch an international coordinating group that can take forward the fight for raw milk around the world. We will hear the experiences and reflections of producers and experts from 15 countries across five continents who have chosen to swim against the tide.
They include:
Kris Lloyd, Woodside Cheese Wrights producer, Australia
Débora de Carvalho Pereira, activist, Brazil
Kent Ruiz, cheese producer at Vista Hermosa, Guanabacoa, Cuba
Remedios Carrasco and Paul Thomas, FACE network (EU)
Jean Bernard Maitia, Basque Pyrenees Mountain Cheeses Presidium producer, France
Elizabeth Bradley, Irish Raw Milk Cheeses Presidium producer, Ireland
Paolo Ciapparelli, Historic Rebel Cheese Presidium producers’ coordinator, Maria Procopio, producer, and Aldo Grasselli, president of SIVEM – Italian Veterinary Association, Italy
