CHEESE 2005 – Via Mendicità Istruita, 45

For ‘Cheese 2005’ (Bra, Sept. 16-19), the movement’s publishing company Slow Food Editore has set up an open-air café in its historic old courtyard at Via Mendicità 45. Halfway through the first day of the event, it’s already possibile to say that the initiative has proved a huge success, with visitors popping in to meet the people who produce Slow, to browse through or buy Slow Food publications, and to enjoy snacks and aperitifs with Presidia products and wines from the Wine Bank. The program for the event is as follows:

Saturday 17 and Sunday 18, 10am
Snacks of Slow Food Presidia products: cheeses and jams, Pamparato corn cookies served with Guatemala coffee from Huehuetenango. The main national papers will be available and participants will be able to read them in comfort under the expert guidance of <La Stampa columnist Lucia Annunziata.

Saturday 17, 6pm
Presentation of the new, revised and updated edition of Formaggi d’Italia (Italian Cheeses), now encompassing over 400 Italian cheese products. Ten cheeses from various Italian regions will be available for tasting, accompanied by wines from the same areas.

Sunday 18, 6pm
Presentation of the manual Le forme del latte (The Forms of Milk), with tasting of three cheeses (spun, soft and aged) accompanied by a Tocai from Friuli, Verdicchio from Castelli di Jesi and Barolo.
