The University of Gastronomic Sciences is once again running an Advanced School in Food Policies and Sustainability, and this year the focus is on gaining a better understanding of sustainable food policies and how they are defined and articulated in European Union States.
The online course takes the European Union’s eight key policy areas as its modules – Agriculture and Rural Development, Sea and Fisheries, Health and Consumers, Research and Innovation, Climate Change, Sustainable Education, Development and Cooperation, Energy and Environment – and will analyze how they can be approached from the perspective of the development and/or implementation of sustainable food polices.
The first month will be devoted to a detailed introduction to each policy area, followed by a month during which students will research existing good practices in sustainable food policies in a EU country of choice for their final paper.

Slow Food was behind the creation of the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) which has offered a multidisciplinary academic program in food studies since 2004.
