In September 2022 Slow Food has been chosen as the official giving partner of the Negroni Week, the initiative organized by Negroni, Imbibe and Campari to promote the power of food, beverages, and hospitality.

Slow Food and Negroni initially decided to join forces and share their common values, such as cultivate community, foster equity and justice, and seek a better world for all through food and beverage.

Can we change the world through food and beverage? We believe we can!

With this partnership, we envision a world where everyone can enjoy food and beverage that is good for them, good for the people who grow it, and good for the planet.

The approach follows Slow Food core values, mainly trying to:

  • empower the development of local food systems, mindful of the diversity of ecosystems, people, cultures, places, foods and tastes;
  • create resilient systems which regenerate the Earth’s precious resources rather than depleting them;
  • create economies based on solidarity and cooperation that benefit and empower all food workers and consumers, where everyone is a valued decision-maker: social equity through fair working conditions, inclusivity of all peoples, ethnicities and genders.

Greater importance is given to deploy people and community-centered approaches that best respond to the varied needs of everyone involved, taking appropriate action to create local, independently minded food and beverage systems where they are most needed. Projects follow impact and effective actions, promoting projects and activities that contribute to the international strategic goals of Slow Food, namely defend cultural and biological diversity, promote food education and the transfer of traditional knowledge and skills, and advocate for more sustainable food policies.

Why Slow Food and Negroni Week?

In the framework of the 2022 Negroni Week initiative, Slow Food, Imbibe and Campari joined forces to multiply their collective impact, their outreach and perspective through the power of food, beverages and hospitality. Through the vast and diverse networks of individuals and communities of Slow Food, this partnership nourishes heritage and local diversity to support emerging leaders and solutions for the future.
