Mawphlang Food Festival

This short video documentary offers a glimpse into the traditional cuisine of India’s Khasi and Jaintia ethnic groups as showcased at the Mawphlang Food Festival in November last year. The culinary event held in the village of Mawphlang near the city of Shillong welcomed Slow Food International’s President Carlo Petrini together with cooks, families and representatives of local indigenous communities from 15 surrounding villages to celebrate the diversity of region’s indigenous foods.

The film was produced in joint collaboration by the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly (KJP), India; The Indigenous Partnership, Rome, Italy; and Slow Food International, Bra, Italy.
