Happy Terra Madre Day!

For the fifth year in a row, the Slow Food network celebrates local food today, through hundreds of events held simultaneously across the world.

First held in 2009 to mark the 20th anniversary of the Slow Food movement, Terra Madre Day has become an important date in the Slow Food calendar. Held on the same day that the international movement was officially founded back in 1989 – December 10 – events are organized around the world to celebrate local food, with thousands of participants.

From festivals, disco soups and dinners to markets, food fairs and farm visits, Terra Madre Day sees the network come together to stand up for traditional food products, cultures and communities.

For all of you participating in or holding an event, we wish you a great day, and of course, don’t forget to send us a photo! Choose one that best captures the atmosphere and essence of your celebration, and send it to: [email protected].

Help us paint a picture of Terra Madre Day around the world!
