Global Footprint Network
Global Footprint Network is an international sustainability organization that is helping the world live within the Earth’s means and respond to climate change. Since 2003 it’s engaged with more than 50 countries, 30 cities, and 70 global partners to deliver scientific insights that have driven high-impact policy and investment decisions.
Slow Food began working with this organization as part of the Foodnected project, an initiative designed to promote the transition to sustainable and fair food systems in the Mediterranean region.
Since that time, the common vision of sustainability has meant that the challenges we face together have been ongoing. To date, the two organizations focus their efforts together on the transition to a plant-rich diet, which includes less, better quality, and environmentally friendly meat consumption and a more rich-plant diet. The Global Footprint Network is committed to assessing the supply chains of Slow Food Network producers and their impact in annually postponing Overshoot Day.
Together, we’re creating a future where all of us can thrive within the limits of our one planet.
