Slow Food Joins the European Board on Agriculture and Food

23 Jan 2025 | English

Slow Food is honored to have been selected as a member of the European Board on Agriculture and Food (EBAF), a new platform dedicated to shaping the future of sustainable food systems in the EU.

At a time when agriculture faces unprecedented environmental, social, and economic challenges, Slow Food will bring its expertise to advocate for biodiversity, agroecology, and fair food policies that support farmers, communities, and the planet.

“This is a critical moment for the future of food and farming in Europe. Slow Food will work to ensure that sustainability, fairness, and resilience are at the core of EU agricultural policies. We need a food system that supports farmers, protects biodiversity, and guarantees good, clean, and fair food for all.”Marta Messa, Slow Food Secretary General

We look forward to collaborating with policymakers, scientists, and civil society to provide high-level advice to the European Commission following up on the report of the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture, and contributing to the work on the Vision for Agriculture and Food.

« Chaired by Commissioner for Food and Agriculture, Christophe Hansen, the European Board on Agriculture and Food aims at sustaining a new culture of dialogue, trust and multistakeholder participation, among the actors of the food supply chain and civil society, as well as with the Commission.

This consultative body is expected to provide high-level advice to the Commission on the follow-up of the report of the Strategic Dialogue on the future of EU agriculture and will contribute to the work on the Vision for agriculture and food, to be presented within the first 100 days of the mandate.
