Sweet Coffee Italia
Sweet Coffee Italia is dedicated to revolutionizing traditional coffee roasting methods by offering a sustainable alternative that maintains high production standards while reducing energy costs. Environmental sustainability is at the core of their mission, as they strive to preserve natural resources for future generations. Their innovative Gemma IND electric roaster line boasts near-zero emissions, marking a significant step towards the ecological energy transition. The research project for the innovation and subsequent application of the electromagnetic induction system required 8 years, demonstrating Sweet Coffee Italia’s commitment to developing cutting-edge technology that aligns with their sustainability goals. By minimizing environmental impact and promoting an eco-friendly approach to coffee roasting, Sweet Coffee Italia is contributing to a more sustainable future.
For the Slow Food Coffee Coalition, in 2024, Sweet Coffee Italia plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission through a multifaceted support. They support the Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) certification process, helping to integrate new communities while bolstering the work done over the past two years to achieve complete self-sufficiency for these communities. Moreover, Sweet Coffee Italia ensures that coffee growers from Slow Food communities in the Global South can attend and participate in international events, fostering knowledge exchange and global collaboration. Their support also extends to enhancing educational outreach by developing materials and activities to be disseminated across the Slow Food network and beyond, promoting sustainable coffee practices. A key area of their contribution is the improvement of the Blockchain traceability system. Sweet Coffee Italia aims to extend this technology to all Coffee Coalition batches as quickly as possible. From 2024, this advanced traceability system will be provided for free to roasters joining the Coalition. Through these comprehensive efforts, Sweet Coffee Italia is instrumental in fostering growth, sustainability, and self-sufficiency within the global coffee community.

Center For Circular Economy in Coffee
The center for circular economy in coffee is a pre-competitive platform aiming at accelerating the circular transition in the coffee supply chain, promoting its principles, supporting innovation, and developing good practices related to circular economy in the global coffee industry. Founded by a network of partners like Giuseppe e Pericle Lavazza Foundation, Politecnico di Torino, University of Gastronomic Sciences (Pollenzo, Italy), International Coffee Organization (ICO), International Trade Centre (ITC) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the center is now open to all player in the supply chain who can contribute and benefit in its platform, starting from coffee growers and along all the member of the long coffee supply chain. Since 2024, the Slow Food Coffee Coalition is officially part of it to support good practices and share knowledge bewteen the Center and its members about circularity.
