Ahead of the European Council meeting, Slow Food, along with other European Civil Society organizations call for including the civil society sector in the EU Recovery Plan after Covid-19 to ensure solidarity, democracy, and European values.

In a letter addressed to the top EU decision-makers, organizations note that in a post Covid-19 Europe continuing to support the existence of a strong civil society, which is a key part of the system of checks and balances, is critical.
49 civil society organizations are jointly calling to:
● Implement a rights-based approach to the recovery;
● Ensure that the proposed recovery measures that will be implemented as part of the Recovery Plan also duly take into account the urgency of supporting the civil society sector and not just the for profit economic sectors;
● Ensure that relevant funding programmes within the future MFF are allocated an adequate budget envelope;
● Establish a dialogue with civil society organisations in the context of the implementation of the Recovery Plan and the negotiations of the future MFF.
