We Feed the Planet Japan Is Calling For Delegates!

08 Aug 2017

We Feed the Planet Japan is gathering Asian youth in Kobe, Japan to discuss the future of food.

From November 3rd to 5th, 2017, Slow Food Youth Network Japan is going to organize We Feed The Planet in Japan 2017, a 3-day gathering of young producers, chefs, activists, researchers, entrepreneurs, students and consumers that are trying to change the food system. The event is comprised of a public event on the first day with a varied program inviting renowned food professionals, and an intensive camp with 50 delegates from all over Asia and Japan on the 2nd and 3rd day.
“We need a global network of change-makers and entrepreneurs that will change the current food system from within. We aim to create a strong interdisciplinary network of change agents through start-ups and innovations that may transform food systems, with regional spin-offs and international exposure. Through the public event and the delegate camp, we will make our action plans and set our goals for Asian countries towards the year of 2020.”

We Feed the Planet Japan combines good food, dancing and drinks, with content, inspiration and education. The event will create fertile ground for new ideas and connections that bring active and hands-on solutions for the future food system. Festival will consist of panel discussions, workshops, group works, lectures, food stands and parties.

From all over Asia and Japan, 50 young food professionals will gather in Kobe to discuss the future of food. This 3-day event’s final output is the “SFYN Innovation Goals.

The program will address various themes such as food and community revitalization, new farming technologies and traditional farming, food waste, food and tourism, taste workshops and much more. The entire program will be shared in September.

Accommodation and meals during the 3-day event, as well as the attendance fee, will be provided to the delegates who are chosen. Most importantly, the delegates will gain both an experience to be treasured, and a chance to connect with others from around the world.

Let this event be an opportunity to step outside of Japan and build a global network. Details for becoming a delegate can be found at the website.

By creating a global, interdisciplinary network of young people, SFYN provides a fertile ground for new ideas, businesses and projects that will help fix problems of the broken food system. The gathering aims to:

  • Bring together a network of farmers, producers and young professionals from Asian countries
  • Seed at least 10 agro-food projects within the event
  • Videos with visions on our future food system from Asian countries
  • Do an online interactive documentary report that harvests the ideas and projects at the event
  • Do wide coverage on social and traditional media
  • Creation of a vibrant, creative and open minded global community, to tap from for agri-food innovation
