The Mei Ramew Food Festival (VIDEO)

29 Oct 2013

As we approach Terra Madre Day 2013, we take a look back at a unique event held last year; one of more than 800 events organized around the world to celebrate local food. The Mei Ramew (Terra Madre) Food Festival was held in northeast India in December 2012 to highlight the rich traditions of indigenous food cultures. More than 3000 visitors came to taste and experience the local produce showcased by indigenous communities. An incredible display of over 200 edible plant species were also documented together with their recipes.

The event was organized by the Rome-based Indigenous Partnership for Agrobiodiversity and Food Sovereignty, Slow Food, the North East Slow Food and Agrobiodiversity Society (NESFAS) and the Hima of Mylliem.

Wherever you are, you can join the celebrations for this year’s Terra Madre Day on December 10. Find out more at: www.slowfood.com/terramadreday
