We are excited to announce that the Terra Madre network is expanding. At Terra Madre Salone del Gusto in Turin, the Slow Food network in the Philippines presented the first edition of Terra Madre Asia Pacific, to take place in the city of Bacolod in November 2025.
At the Slow Food Philippines stand at Terra Madre in Turin, Italy, delegates from various Slow Food communities and chefs from across the Philippines gathered on Sunday, the 29th, to celebrate the launch of the first-ever Terra Madre Asia Pacific.
“Building sustainable food systems is of utmost importance,” said Elmer G. Cato, Consul General at the Philippine Consulate in Milan, highlighting the work done by Slow Food Philippines in advocating for and creating solutions to protect the environment, cultural heritage, and food accessibility.
Terra Madre Asia Pacific will take place in Bacolod, a city that aims to become the Slow food hub of Pacific Asia. The mayor of Bacolod, Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, expressed great commitment to bring the event to the next level.
Paolo di Croce, Director General of Slow Food International, underlined the importance of the Terra Madre network in working for good, clean, and fair food for all, and sees great potential in the event:
“Terra Madre is an instrumental program all over the world to change the food system, and Terra Madre Asia Pacific will become a key hub for Slow Food – recognized and valued in every corner of the world.”
In a message from the Philippine Department of Tourism, Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco emphasized how the event will bring to life the stories of people, farmers, chefs, and communities.
