Slow Food on Film
18 Oct 2006
This year’s visitors to Salone del Gusto will also have the opportunity to enjoy screenings in the Slow Food on Film program, a mini-film festival celebrating gastronomy around the world. An extensive line-up of full length and short films is being offered, all films having been screened previously as part of the biennial Corto film festival in Bra, Italy.
The daily screenings present a diverse mix of innovative documentaries, all of them tackling the issues that confront the food and agriculture sectors today. Included in the program are The Future of Food by Deborah Koons Garcia, The Real Dirt on Farmer John by Taggart Siegel and Leben Ausser Kontrolle – von Genfood und Designerbabies by Bertram Verhaag, as well as some of the best shorts from recent editions of Slow Food on Film.
In addition, five short films featuring food communities taking part in the concurrent Terra Madre meeting will premiere during the event. These documentaries are the winning entries to a competition that sent filmmakers from the ‘young directors’ section of the Berlin Festival to visit food communities and record their stories.
Slow Food on Film is being presented each day at Salone del Gusto, 26-30 October, from 4pm onwards in the Sala Avorio in the visitors’ gallery of the Lingotto Fiere.
