Slow Food Burren Festival

23 May 2008

The Slow Food Burren Festival kicks off on Friday May 23 in Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare, Ireland, and runs for three days. On that night, selected restaurants in the area will be hosting a special Slow Food Burren dinner.

Saturday is a food filled day which includes a cookery demonstration by chef and food consultant Clodagh McKenna, who will be cooking dishes using the produce from local Clare Producers, a talk by John McKenna and many other demonstrations on Irish cheeses, chocolate, local herbs, smoked fish, Burren beef and lamb, honey and seaweeds.

There will also be a farmers’ market in the town square. To end the day, a gala dinner will be served at the New Cliffs of Moher Visitors Centre.

On Sunday, visitors can either take part in an organized walk of the Burren, head to the town center for a barbecue or enjoy a lunch at Gregan’s Castle with a theme of local Irish honey.
