Pierre Mollo, a leading expert on small marine creatures, has died

23 Apr 2026

We are very sad to hear that Pierre Mollo, a scientist who studied marine life in Brittany and was part of the Slow Food network in France, died. Pierre had a unique perspective. He was attentive to fragile balances, curious about invisible connections, and deeply respectful of human and natural communities. His dedication encouraged important conversations between different subjects, regions, and cultures, and helped us understand better our connection to the ocean. Pierre’s participation in Terra Madre and Slow Fish, and the collaborations he built over time, embodied a spirit of sharing that is at the core of Slow Food: care, transmission, and connection.

We invite you to read the touching tribute from the Slow Food network in Provence, written by Elisabeth Tempier for L’Encre de Mer.
