OCEAN2012
30 Jul 2012
A new video has been released by OCEAN2012 – a coalition dedicated to ensuring the 2012 reform of the EU Common Fisheries Policy stops overfishing and other destructive fishing practices to deliver a fair and equitable use of healthy fish stocks – to coincide with European Fish Weeks, being held from June 8 to August 31. The succinct video sums up why drastic changes are needed in our approach to fisheries management, using simple language and effective animation to paint a clear and stark picture. In short, European Fish Weeks asks us to take this opportunity to tell politicians to “end overfishing or fishing will be over”, encouraging fisheries ministers to take the right decision by organizing events that bring them together with fishermen, scientists and consumers.
OCEAN2012 is an alliance of over 160 organizations dedicated to putting an end to overfishing in the European Union. Slow Food is one of five international member groups.
