Love Story In Verona

28 Mar 2007

Vinitaly, billed this year as ‘another love story in Verona’, is the largest wine show in the world. Now in its 41st year, the event, which kicks off tomorrow, will welcome 4,200 exhibitors as well as importers, distributors, caterers, technicians, journalists and opinion leaders. It will include not only traditional features but also innovative new initiatives designed to involve members of the trade from all over the world.

As part of the impressive program, Tasting Ex…Press – international wines presented by leading specialized magazines, Taste & Dream – great historical Italian wines, Trendy Today, Big Tomorrow – up-and-coming companies investing in the future, Taste Italy, a tasting of ‘Lista dei Buoni 2006’ wines for 5,000 foreign journalists and buyers, Designer Restaurants – special demonstrations by top Italian chefs; Citadel of Gastronomy – the very finest regional Italian cuisine; the Haute Cuisine Area – a wedding of haute cuisine, oil and wine, JRE On Tour Restaurant – a special menu created by three different chefs every day … and more besides.

The event will even spill over out of the Verona Exhibition Center into the city itself. The Palazzo della Gran Guardia on the central Piazza Brà, for example, will be home to Vinitaly for You, a ‘wine store’ that will open in the evening to offer visitors food and live music.

Slow Food will be at Vinitaly as always with its traditional Osteria (food from a different Italian region every day) and a packed program of tastings and talks.
