Free Trade and Investment Treaties: No Thanks!
14 Apr 2015

On April 18 there will be a global day of action against a number of free trade treaties (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, Trans-Pacific Partnership, Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) and in favor of an economy that serves the development of people and the planet. All citizens are invited to participate in this day by organizing local events on all continents.
In Europe, more than a million and a half citizens have now signed a petition to stop the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, the so-called TTIP. With this agreement, the European Commission aims to help large and small businesses gain access to the American market, reduce bureaucracy tied to exportation, and establish new rules to simplify exporting, importing and foreign investments.
To calm public fears that are felt more and more as citizens say no to the TTIP, the European Commission this week published a brochure to dispel the myths of the treaty. Find out more on the Slow Europe website.
