EU Ministers for Agriculture Meet Slow Food
23 Sep 2014

On September 29, 28 European Ministers for Agriculture will be welcomed to the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) to discover Slow Food products from their countries and their small-scale producers.
The ministers will be welcomed by the Italian Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Maurizio Martina, Slow Food President Carlo Petrini and UNISG Dean Piercarlo Grimaldi.
At the end of the informal discussion that will take place, the 28 European ministers will have the chance to taste products from Slow Food’s European Presidia and Ark of Taste, projects to protect small-scale traditional food productions at risk of extinction.
Each European country will be represented by a product, with its producer on hand to offer a taste and explain the value and importance of these foods. The heterogeneous international community of the students of UNISG will also be present, representing more than 60 nationalities, many from the European Union.
With this initiative Slow Food hopes to offer to the 28 ministers a panorama of the food biodiversity of Europe, and bring to their attention these small-scale producers who are the expression of a family agriculture still alive and productive today, and custodians of the traditional knowledge, biodiversity, landscape and gastronomy of Europe.
