Empowering Change: the 2024 Slow Food Negroni Week Fund Winners Revealed

The Slow Food Negroni Week Fund is thrilled to announce the distinguished recipients of the 2024 Slow Food Negroni Fund. This year’s initiative continues its steadfast commitment to advancing sustainable beverage practices and culinary innovation. From an impressive pool of over 230 applications, the selected recipients have demonstrated outstanding promise and an unwavering dedication to the principles of the Slow Food movement.
This year, the fund is distributed across three impactful categories:
In the Education Scholarship category, thirty individuals have been awarded full support to attend either Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, USA (July 2024) or Terra Madre Salone del Gusto in Turin, Italy (September 2024). These scholarships aim to provide emerging professionals in the beverage industry with essential training, networking opportunities, and focused education on sustainability. Applicants, all of legal drinking age and currently employed within the beverage sector, have shown a keen interest in integrating the core Slow Food values of “good, clean, and fair food and beverage for all” into their professional endeavors.
The Negroni Week Innovation Award recognizes innovative, community-centered projects that champion the values of good, clean, and fair within the beverage industry. Grants ranging from $3000 to $10,000 USD will be awarded to partnerships involving two or more organizations, with at least one actively engaged in the beverage sector. These projects exemplify creative solutions aimed at fostering sustainable practices and community resilience.
Lastly, the Slow Food Exchanges, by exclusive invitation, facilitate transformative experiences connecting hospitality professionals with producers in specific sectors. Each Exchange includes immersive field experiences, in-depth forums, networking sessions, and public events, fostering collaborative dialogue and promoting sustainable practices within the industry.
The selected recipients represent a rich tapestry of backgrounds and innovative ideas, signaling a promising future for the global food and beverage landscape. Their participation in these prestigious events promises not only invaluable learning opportunities but also a platform to showcase their initiatives to industry leaders worldwide.
Scholarship Winners
The 2024 scholarships empower recipients to advance their education, conduct impactful research, and spearhead community-based projects aligned with Slow Food’s principles of good, clean, and fair food for all. By backing these scholars, the Slow Food Negroni Week Fund contributes to a more sustainable and inclusive global food and beverage system.
Fifteen scholars will attend Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2024, and another fifteen will participate in Tales of the Cocktail. These prestigious gatherings offer invaluable learning opportunities, networking with industry leaders, and platforms to showcase their innovative projects. With diverse backgrounds and forward-thinking ideas, these scholars embody a promising future for the global food and beverage industry.
I feel so honored to be leading these groups of Slow Food Negroni Week Fund Scholarship recipients to the Tales of the Cocktail and Terra Madre conferences. The winners represent a diverse group of beverage professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds whose unique experiences will enrich the knowledge of their fellow members in each of the scholarship cohorts.
