DIY PANTRY – Oat Milk, Almond Milk and Rice Milk
30 Jan 2014

Make your own oat, almond and rice milk at home: great in tea, coffee or by themselves! Simply follow the easy steps below…
Oat Milk
In a big glass jar add 10 tbsp oats to 1L water and leave in the fridge overnight. Blend everything in a blender and strain it through a sieve, cheesecloth or nut bag.
Almond Milk
Place 1 cup almonds (raw, unsalted, with skins on) in a bowl or glass jar and cover with cold water. Allow to soak overnight, then drain and rinse. Blend soaked almonds with 1L water in a blender until smooth. Strain through a sieve, cheesecloth or nut bag.
Rice Milk
In a dry pan, toast 1 cup rice (brown or white) until the grains begin to color. Place them in a bowl or glass jar and cover with 1L water. Soak overnight. Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain through a sieve, cheesecloth or nut bag.
For all three variations, you can sweeten or flavor them to your liking with honey, vanilla or a pitted date. The milks should keep for 3-4 days in the fridge. Shake before using.
