Carlo Petrini at UNESCO
31 Mar 2011

Slow Food International President Carlo Petrini will visit UNESCO in Paris this weekend, bringing the Slow Food message to discussions of how to build a new society with respect for health and the environment.
Petrini will take part in the debate “Food, the environment and health: an educational challenge,” alongside psychiatrist Gérard Apfeldorfer and Michelin-starred chef Olivier Roellinger. The discussion is part of UNESCO’s fourth Earth University (Université de la Terre), a two-day forum that attracts thousands of participants including, scientists, economists, politicians, religious leaders, sociologists, business heads and citizens to discuss current major issues of society and environment.
The central theme of the 2011 edition is “Build a new society”, with a program focused around how to reshape environmental policy, put future generations at the centre of society’s objectives, change methods of production and consumption, and reconcile humankind with nature.
All workshops are open to the public, with the aim of building a shared reflection on society and the environment.
