Arrivederci, Vinitaly

10 Apr 2006

EXCLUSIVE – The fortieth edition of the number one Italian wine exhibition Vinitaly comes to an end in Verona today.

After a long period of pessimism among producers, this year optimism reigned at the event, especially at the pavilions of Tuscany and Piedmont, the two regions that had suffered market shrinkage the most.

Buyers in fact showed renewed interest for historical denominations such as Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano, Barolo and Barbaresco.

As always, the Slow Food stand was a great success, thanks to organized tastings, members’ luncheons and to the sale of books, gadgets and membership cards (again on the up).

For the second year on the trot, the numerous visitors flocked to the -18 ice-cream counter, which served flavors made with Slow Food Presidia products (proceeds will go to the Flow Food Foundation for Biodiversity).
