A Thousand Ways to Celebrate
10 Dec 2009
Slow Food is celebrating 20 years of the international association today with Terra Madre Day – more than 1000 events organized by communities across 120 countries to promote ‘eating locally’ and sustainable food production. Slow Food convivia, Terra Madre food communities and other organizations supporting good, clean and fair local food are coming together in collective meals, community festivals, protests, workshops for childrens, excursions to producers and much more, demonstrating the Slow Food network’s breadth, inclusivity and diversity.
You can see what’s happening in all corners of the world and follow the latest stories of how communities from Afghanistan to Venezuela are celebrating eating locally by visiting the Terra Madre Day site. Throughout the week we will be featuring stories from across the globe in eight languages.
Thank you to all who are participating in Terra Madre Day, no matter how large or small your activity. Together we can work to celebrate and protect our local food systems, while knowing we are part of a world network for change.
