Agricultural Revolution
08 Mar 07 - Sloweb
According to the Belgrade daily Glas, Emir Kusturica, the Serbian film director whose acclaimed international features include When Father Was Away On Business and Underground, is planning to launch a line of ‘bio-revolutionary’ fruit juices produced with fruit grown on his organic farm in Drven Grad.

The bottle labels will be dedicated to the likes of Tito, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro and Saddam Hussein.

Drven Grad, situated in beautiful uncontaminated countryside 200 kilometers southeast of Belgrade, is a replica of a typical Balkan farming hamlet that Kusturica had built as the set for his movie Life Is A Miracle.

Other figures who will appear on the labels include Diego Maradona, to whom Kusturica recently dedicated a documentary entitled … Maradona.

All are heroes of the director, who believes they deserve to have ‘a fruit dedicated to them’. Che Guevara will feature on the raspberry juice label, Tito on that of blackcurrant juice.

Even Marx once showed an interest in fruit. ‘Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana,’ he said. But it was Groucho Marx, not Karl.
