27 Oct 06
The first day of the Salone del Gusto saw over 24,000 visitors pass through the turnstiles at the Lingotto in Turin, up 20% from the last edition two years ago.
In addition to many casual visitors and tourists from outside Italy, there was also an increased presence of professionals and industry representatives from the food and wine sector, demonstrating the growing interest in food which is good, clean and fair.
The sixth Salone del Gusto is also the site for many school visits and there are many activities available for children, some held in the special DolceAmaro classroom, as well as other educational classes and workshops for all ages.
For the second time Salone del Gusto is being held concurrently with Terra Madre, and together the two events have received much international media coverage, with non-Italian journalists representing 35% of the total accredited press.
