Slow Food on Film DOC in Bra: short documentaries to save the memory of food
08 Jan 04
Slow Food on Film the first international competition for short films dedicated to the love of food—the fruit of a collaboration between the Bra Short Film Festival and the international Slow Food Movement—will be back in Bra in Piedmont from April 21-25 2004. In view of the great success of the 2002 edition, exciting new features have been added, including a documentary section.
Slow Food on Film DOC, which will award the Gold Snail and a cash prize of 2,500 euros to the best short documentary (no
longer than 30 minutes) dedicated to the memory of food, asks filmmakers to recreate awareness of an ancient recipe, a rare agricultural product on the verge of extinction or a gastronomic tradition that is dying out, through an audiovisual account. In collaboration with the directors of the films, our aim is to build up an international archive of stories on the ‘savvy of savor’, to preserve a part of our identity that is gradually disappearing.
The archive will be developed with the new Slow Food international University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, near Bra.
The directors of the fifth International Bra Short Film Festival , which hosts the event, hereby invite all eco-gastronomes to send in their efforts (substance over style, remember!), and announce that the closing date for entries has been extended to January 31 2004!
To enter and find out how to take part, read the official festival regulations at www.slowfoodonfilm.it
