Am 10. Dezember 2009 findet weltweit zum ersten Mal der Terra Madre Day statt. Ein Fest für alle, die sich dem Netzwerk von Terra Madre und Slow Food angeschlossen haben: Mitglieder, Erzeuger der Presidi, Lebensmittelbündnisse, Köche, Wissenschaftler, Nachwuchs, Musiker... Anlass ist der 20. Jahrestag der Gründung des internationalen Vereins Slow Food 1989 in Paris. Es handelt sich um eins der wichtigsten Kollektivevents zur Feier der guten, sauberen und fairen Lebensmittel, das je auf globaler Ebene realisiert wurde. Der Terra Madre Day stützt sich auf sieben Leitlinien oder Säulen, die unsere Werte und unsere Hoffnungen für die Zukunft widerspiegeln und von denen wir fordern, dass sie zu anerkannten Rechten für alle Gemeinschaften werden. The very first worldwide Terra Madre Day is to be held on December 10, 2009 to celebrate locally produced food that is good, clean and fair: food that tastes good and is produced without harming the environment and taking social justice issues into consideration. December 10 is Slow Food’s 20th anniversary, two decades after the signing of the Slow Food Manifesto in Paris in 1989 that started the international association. Slow Food has chosen to celebrate its first 20 years with Terra Madre Day in recognition of these communities\' remarkable achievements and their crucial role for the future of food. Terra Madre Day will be one of the largest collective celebrations of food diversity ever achieved on a global scale, celebrated in endless ways in all corners of the world, from small gatherings to large events. Terra Madre Day is guided by seven pillars that reflect our values and hopes for the future and which we demand as a right for all communities.
